CloudBank is a service-based platform that facilitates access to commercial cloud resources through a flexible, multi-cloud infrastructure. It currently provides access to the following commercial cloud platforms Amazon Web Services, Google Cloud, IBM Cloud, and Microsoft Azure. CloudBank support and training resources are available to assist researchers at all experience levels, from those new to commercial cloud services to experienced users developing or piloting advanced workflows. Starting in December, CloudBank will be available to all researchers through the NSF ACCESS and NAIRR Pilot programs.
Recommended Use: CloudBank may be leveraged for, but is not limited to, the following use cases: supporting small-scale research production infrastructure that leverages commercial cloud tools to deliver highly available and resilient services; supporting AI workloads that are modest in scale and well-suited to commercial cloud platforms; validating and testing the scalability of software tools or systems under realistic cloud conditions; accessing unique hardware or specialized cloud tools and services; studying the behavior of regionally or globally distributed cloud environments, including network performance and latency; and hosting community tools, datasets, or science gateways. CloudBank is not intended to support large-scale compute or GPU-intensive workloads, which can be executed more cost-effectively on other on-premises ACCESS/NAIRR resources.
